Sharing our Dreams- Honoring Sacred Space
Whether you do this with a friend, with family, or in a group, this is sacred space. It's highly sensitive, intensely personal and vulnerable. No one knows what will be revealed, and often, within a short time, stories open, unleashing unexpected emotions. Your responsibility, as a listener, is to maintain a safe space. While listening to a dream, keep in mind not to take the dreams personally. if you do, you’re assuming you’re understanding the dream. The truth is, you’re only seeing a very small part of it.
How to Listen:
With your full attention and without agenda. Holding the goal of understanding the dream is an agenda. You're there to listen, to reflect, from a place of curiosity. Please listen with compassion, but if you pour out sympathy for a part that feels sad, you risk spiraling into the story of the sadness, making it harder for the dreamer to move through the sadness, feel it and release it so they can reach the place of inspiration on the far side. If you're focused on the sadness, you may hold them there longer than they need to be there themselves. I'm not saying don't empathize or sympathize. Just stay aware of what your doing, so that when the dreamer is ready move through it and release it, you're ready as well.
Regardless of your relationship to the person sharing the dream, you're going to be unaware of much of the story behind it. The gift you offer, as the listener, is providing a safe, attentive audience for the dreamer to reveal and invite you into a very sensitive and vulnerable place. As you learn how to hear a dream, nurturing the practice of egoless listening (see below).

They also occur as different expressions of fear, such as running late, losing one's belongings, being chased and falling. Remember, that when looking at a macro pattern, it's showing you many different things, so do your best to say "I see this pattern. Does that feel right? Let's see what else is there.
Egoless listening; Listening From Sacred Space
