Dream Casting

Dream Casting: This is the art of completing a dream you’ve woken from before it’s done, or extending a disturbing dream to an ending you prefer. This should be done carefully and with awareness, otherwise you may be working against yourself.

Try to do this while you’re still somewhat in the dream space, so that what you write has a chance to enter the consciousness as something occurred in the dreamspace, thus generating the emotional response your looking for.

If you’re experiencing nightmares, say, a dark cloud chasing you through narrow passages, you can use the dreamspace to confront this un-named fear. On waking, while writing, say, for example, that you suddenly came into an open space, turned around, and faced the cloud, revealing to you the truth of what the source of the fear was. Then write, I was no longer afraid. When you write this, focus on the feeling of having confronted the fear and having embraced and conquered it. Feel it. This is key. It’s the feeling behind each scenario that provides the deepest emotional growth.
